The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, received today, Wednesday 26 November, the Secretary-General of the OECD, Mathias Cormann, who travelled to Spain to present the Economic Survey 2025 report on our country, which reflects the solid economic results and growth of the Spanish economy.
During the meeting, Albares reaffirmed Spain's candidacy to host the Ministerial Summit of the OECD Regional Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean in 2026. Spain supports the strengthening of the relationship between the organisation and Latin America, reflected through collaboration in the aforementioned Regional Programme and the adoption of the OECD Strategic Framework for the region at the 2025 Council meeting of ministers.
Mathias Cormann's visit to Spain coincides with his re-election as Secretary-General of the OECD for the next term. The minister highlighted his commitment to multilateralism and common interests, as well as the OECD's work in areas such as development, climate change, digital transition, social inclusion and gender equality.
