The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation has concluded the third edition of the Spain in the World course, organised in collaboration with the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) and which was inaugurated by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares.
There he held a dialogue with Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), on the global development agenda following the achievements of the International Conference on Financing for Development in Seville. Both agreed on the need to strengthen the multilateral system and uphold international law as fundamental pillars of a global order based on rules that benefit all. In this context, the Minister underlined Spain's firm commitment to organisations such as UNHCR and UNRWA.
Over four intense days, the course, directed by Spain's Permanent Representative to NATO, Federico Torres Muro, brought together leading Spanish and international policymakers, experts and analysts to analyse the main challenges of today's geopolitical landscape.
Reforming multilateralism, the challenges of European security, Spain's international projection and the impact of the increase in armed conflicts on international relations were the main topics discussed during the week.
Among the speakers to participate in this third edition are the four State Secretaries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (Diego Martínez Belío, Fernando Sampedro, Susana Sumelzo and Eva Granados), as well as experts, politicians and academics such as Elena Lazarou, Lotje Boswinkel, Christophe Morand, Pol Morillas and Enrico Letta.
