Spain deeply regrets announcement of new US sanctions against International Criminal Court

August 21, 2025
Spain deeply regrets the announcement of new US sanctions against the International Criminal Court, this time against two judges and two prosecutors.

In light of these new actions against the independence of the International Criminal Court, Spain reiterates its strongest support for this high court and expresses its solidarity and support for the judges and prosecutors affected and for all the staff of the International Criminal Court.

The International Criminal Court derives its mandate from the 125 Member States of the Rome Statute. Its work is essential for accountability for the most serious crimes against humanity and for the reparation of victims.

Spain will continue to comply with its obligations under the Rome Statute and international law, respecting and guaranteeing the full jurisdiction of the Court.
