The Government of Spain welcomes the announcement of an agreement for a 60-day ceasefire, an indispensable condition to address the humanitarian situation in Lebanon and to proceed with the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Spain remains committed to regional stability through its contribution to UNIFIL and will support de-escalation efforts to allow the return of displaced persons to their homes on both sides of the Blue Line and to move towards a político solution to the conflict.
A ceasefire in Gaza, allowing humanitarian aid to enter at a large scale and the release of hostages, remains key to regional de-escalation. Only the implementation of the two-State solution will lay the foundations for a just and lasting peace in the region.
