Presidential elections in Costa Rica

The Government of Spain congratulates Rodrigo Alberto Chaves Robles on his victory in the second round of presidential elections in Costa Rica, held on Sunday, 3 April, and conveys its best wishes for every success in the presidential mandate he is about to take on.

The government also congratulates the people of Costa Rica on the exemplary course of the election process, both the legislative elections and the first round of the presidential elections held on 6 February, and this second round, thus demonstrating the inextricable commitment of Costa Rica to democracy.

Spain continues to promote its strategic relationship with Costa Rica, based on entrenched shared values that promote the well-being and prosperity of our respective people, both at a bilateral level and at an Ibero-American and multilateral level.
