The Ambassador was welcomed by the Vice- Chancellor, Nigel Harkness, and the Head of the School of Modern Languages, Andrea Wilczynski, with whom he spoke about the department of Spanish language and culture, offering them educational support.

The Spanish representative also met with Spanish researchers and professors from the university, and gave a lecture to around 150 students on relations between Spain/EU and the United Kingdom.

The Ambassador then visited the CEO of Tust de Vindolanda, one of the main Roman sites on Hadrian's Wall, to which he offered archaeological collaboration with Spain.

Newcastle has become one of the most innovative hubs in the United Kingdom. Its university, with 30,000 students, plays a fundamental role with projects such as the Smart City or the incubator for technological start-ups.
