Masterclass tasting of Spanish wines

The event served to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Grand Order of the Knights of Wine

The event was organized by the Spanish Wine Federation, in collaboration with ICEX and the Embassy, and was hosted by the Ambassador, José Pascual Marco, the Secretary General of Agricultural Resources and Food Safety of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Ana Rodríguez Castaño, and the President of the FEV, Pedro Ferrer.

The tasting was led by Master of Wine Sarah Jane Evans, President of the Grand Order of the Knights of Wine and a renowned connoisseur and advocate of Spanish wine. She selected the following wines: Can Sala 2013 from Ferrer Wines, Finca Las Comas 2022 from Bodegas José Pariente, Finca Valinas 2019 from Mar de Frades, Tapias de Marqués de Riscal 2021 from Bodegas de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscal, Mas La Plana 2018 from Familia Torres, Pago Negralada 2012 from Abadía Retuerta, and Solera India N/V from Osborne.

A cocktail reception was held for the guests, accompanied by another selection of Spanish wines from Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, Bodegas Cosme Palacio, Marqués de Cáceres, Bodegas Ysios, Campo Viejo, Protos, and Osborne.

In 2024, the United Kingdom was one of the main consumers of Spanish wines, with a total import value of 340 million euros.
