Ambassador José Pascual Marco emphasized the importance of tourism in the relationship between Spain and the United Kingdom and Spain's commitment to continue promoting the country as the preferred holiday destination for Britons. He noted that more than 18 million Britons visited Spain in 2024.
The Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosario Sánchez Grau, also highlighted the long-standing tourism tradition between the two countries and expressed the Spanish Government's commitment to developing a robust, sustainable, inclusive, and high-quality tourism sector.
Finally, Mark Tanzer, CEO of ABTA, the British Association of Travel Agents, was awarded the Order of Isabella the Catholic in recognition of his role in promoting British tourism to Spain.
