To access the application form and any information contained in this notice, including the corresponding form, you must use ONLY the links provided herein. The electronic citizen certificate is an electronic certificate issued by the Spanish Royal Mint (FNMT) that allows its holder to securely authenticate themselves online and carry out administrative procedures.

 Who can apply?

All Spanish citizens and foreign nationals over 18 years of age or legally emancipated who hold a valid physical National Identity Document (DNI) or a Foreigner's Identity Card (TIE) can obtain a digital certificate. Foreign nationals with a Foreigner's Identity Number (NIE) can apply if they present a verifiable official document proving the issuance of the NIE and verify their identity with a valid and current identification document.

 How can I obtain it?

The certificate can be obtained as a downloadable file through the channels provided on the FNMT website, with accreditation via electronic DNI, through in-person accreditation at an office, or through video identification (in the latter case, after paying for the service).

The certificate can also be obtained as a downloadable file, in person and free of charge, through the Consular Office. In this case, the following steps, detailed on the FNMT website, must be followed:

1.         Before requesting the certificate, it is necessary to consult the instructions on configuring the browser of the computer from which the certificate will be requested and make the necessary adjustments.

2.         Once the browser is configured, you must request the certificate online, following the FNMT instructions. Upon completion of the application process, you will receive an application code via email, which is required to finalize the procedure.

3.         Next, you must verify your identity at an identity verification office. This can be done at a Consular Office, where you will need to present the following:

Application form, Original and a photocopy of your National Identity Document (DNI) or Foreigner's Identity Number (NIE, and application code provided by the FNMT (National Mint and Stamp Factory), which will be noted on the application form.

Applicants for an electronic citizen certificate who identify themselves with a NIF L (Spaniards residing abroad, who do not have a DNI, provided that they are previously registered in the corresponding Consular Registry called RMC " Registro de Matricula Consular" ) or a NIF M (foreign citizens residing in the corresponding consular demarcation, provided that they have not or have not had a Foreigner Identification Number, NIE) may request the same as if they had presented a DNI or an NIE.
