On 2 and 3 June 2026, Spain will host, in Madrid, the Fifth Ministerial Conference on Feminist Foreign Policy: Building Peace and Democracy, an international, high-level meeting on feminist foreign policy, the rights of women and gender equality—not only as priorities in their own right, but also as principles and pillars for the advancement of global peace and strengthening of democracy.
The Conference will bring together more than 700 people, including foreign ministers and representatives of international organizations, philanthropic organizations, civil society and feminist movements, to focus on one shared goal: promoting equality, freedom and dignity for women and girls around the world, as a cornerstone of peace, justice and democracy.
With its theme of “building peace and democracy”, the Conference offers an opportunity to strengthen a diverse coalition of States that are committed to gender equality and sustainable development; it is also an ideal space for raising awareness of the adoption of feminist foreign policy, in an international context of conflict, democratic backsliding and rising inequalities.
The Conference also aims to foster tangible political commitments and promote innovative and transformative initiatives, while also enabling participants to share good practices.
