Feminist Foreign Policy
The Ministry registers a strong increase in applications for the Feminist Foreign Policy, Feminist Development Cooperation and Gender Equality Course at the Diplomatic School
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation organised the fourth edition of the Feminist Foreign Policy, Feminist Development Cooperation and Gender Equality Course, which took place on 10 and 11 June at the Diplomatic School in Madrid. Since its inception in 2023, this course has consolidated its role as a key initiative to train young professionals, students and aid workers in the implementation of feminist policies in the international arena.
Growing interest
Divided into four thematic areas - Feminist Foreign Policy, Feminist Cooperation for International Development, Feminist Leadership and Diplomacy, and Leadership Strategies in Foreign Relations - the course expanded its capacity from 50 to 60 participants in this edition in light of the growing interest, reflected in a 233.63% increase in applications since 2023, with 377 applications received this year.
Training programme
The course has sought to disseminate different feminist models and approaches in foreign policy, promoting gender equality and women's empowerment through development cooperation and humanitarian action. It has also provided tools to develop skills in leadership, influencing and negotiation with a gender perspective, and has promoted networking among people and entities committed to equality in international relations. This year, a section of the programme was dedicated to involving men and boys in building a comprehensive gender perspective.
Through this initiative, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirms its commitment to a feminist foreign policy and the promotion of gender equality in all its fields of activity.
