On the World Day against Trafficking in Persons, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation reaffirmed its commitment to combating human trafficking. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, stressed that combating human trafficking is a priority for Spanish foreign action, as it constitutes a serious violation of human rights.
Campaign against sex trafficking
On 1 June, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched a campaign to combat sex trafficking in collaboration with the Association for the Prevention, and Care of Prostituted Women (APRAMP). The campaign was publicized by consular posts in Latin America, as it is the region most affected by this problem.
The campaign covers:
- Information on how networks operate.
- Warning signs to prevent grooming of women and girls.
The initiative, which uses the hashtag #NoEstásSola (you are not alone), is part of Spain's Feminist foreign policy and supports a comprehensive, victim-centred approach. The campaign's recommendations include:
- Do not hand over personal documents.
- Crosscheck offers for jobs or studies in writing.
- Beware of travelling immediately.
- Protect personal data on social media.
- Keep in contact with people you trust.
