Open Gov Week (OGW), which is promoted globally by the Open Government Partnership, aims to ensure that public administrations act transparently, foster collaboration and citizen participation, and are accountable and inclusive.
Spain has been a member of the Open Government Partnership since 2011, and since then has participated in organising and holding six editions, in which it has consolidated its leadership in organising actions to promote the culture of open government.
Among other activities, held from 10 to 17 June, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation organised a round table discussion on the system of access to EU institutions. In another event, information was provided on the functioning of the SOLVIT network, a free service of the national administrations of EU countries that seeks out and provides solutions to citizens’ problems.
A commemoration was also held of the 75th anniversary of the creation of the Directorate General for Consular Affairs, and the Ministry's headquarters were opened to visitors from schools and universities, both the Palace of Santa Cruz and the Palace of Marqués de Salamanca. Lastly, the Diplomatic School hosted a conference on opportunities abroad and the diplomatic career.
