AID TO UKRAINE

Spain has donated two armoured medical vehicles to Ukraine for the evacuation of patients

The donation of these armoured vehicles follows a request made by the Ukrainian Ministry of Health to the European Union.

January 8, 2024
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, today visited the facilities of the Tecnove company in Herencia (Ciudad Real) to supervise the adaptation of two military vehicles into armoured medical ambulances that will be travelling to Ukraine in the next few hours. The Ukrainian Ambassador to Spain, Serhii Pohoresltsev, also joined the visit.

The donation of these armoured vehicles follows a request made by the Ukrainian Ministry of Health to the European Union within the framework of the European Civil Protection Mechanism. Their use will be exclusively humanitarian, focusing on patient evacuation and medical care.

"The objective of Spanish aid has always been to offer adequate protection to the Ukrainian population, as well as the provision of basic necessities, whether in Ukraine or in the host communities of people displaced by the conflict", Albares recalled.
