EU-CELAC SUMMIT

Spanish Minister participates in the European Union-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Civil Society Forum

Youth, civil society and local authorities play an important role in cooperation between the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean. In this context, José Manuel Albares, together with the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, spoke at a Forum being held in Brussels on 13 and 14 July.

July 13, 2023
In his speech, the minister emphasised that Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean share the vision of a future focused on sustainable development, with democratic values, human rights and respect for peace and the environment. He pledged that the Spanish Presidency will work with European institutions to achieve a relationship between Europe and Latin America that meets the demands of our societies.

The overall goal of the EU-LAC Forum, organised as part of the EU-CELAC Summit to be held in Brussels next week, is to exchange views and experiences in an inclusive manner and to analyse opportunities for forging a sustainable and integrated future for both regions. The outcome of this dialogue will serve to identify recommendations to be addressed to the Summit for closer cooperation between non-state actors and youth organisations in both regions.
