José Manuel Albares participates in the annual Ministerial Council Meeting

Paris, headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, brought together members, partners and international organisations under the theme “Securing a Resilient Future: Shared Values and Global Partnerships”.

June 8, 2023
The annual meeting of the OECD Ministerial Council on 7-8 June focused on addressing challenges to collective economic resilience, upholding shared values -in particular gender equality- and building and fostering partnerships with countries beyond the OECD's own membership. Among other issues, the OECD addressed its expansion to Latin American countries and the creation of the Global Technology Forum, an initiative Spain is participating in.

The OECD also analysed the current situation in Ukraine and launched the so-called Country Programme for Ukraine to assist in its reform and reconstruction process. In this respect, Minister Albares reiterated Spain's commitment to Ukraine, “for as long as it takes for Ukraine to return to a just peace under the UN Charter as soon as possible”.

During the meeting in Paris, José Manuel Albares and the Secretary-General of the OECD, Mathias Cormann, discussed the policies being implemented by the Spanish Government for economic growth and the fight against inflation.
