The Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee visits Spain

Natalia Gherman, Executive Director of the Committee and Assistant Secretary-General, has made her first official visit to Spain since her appointment to the post by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres

During her assessment visit, which took place on 26 an 27 April, the Executive Director of the Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTED) led a delegation of more than fifteen people from the CTED and other UN, international and regional agencies.

During her high-level meetings, which took place on 26 and 27 April, Natalia Gherman had the opportunity to meet with the main institutions in charge of the fight against terrorism in our country. She also held a meeting focused on the victims of terrorism.

The CTED delegation, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, visited the Ministries of the Interior and Justice, different strategic centres, such as the Centre of Intelligence against Terrorism and Organised Crime (CITCO), the National Police General Information Commissariat and the Guardia Civil Information Headquarters, as well as the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport.

The CTED delegation also had the opportunity to visit the Ombudsman and held meetings with a variety of civil society organisations.
