On his first official bilateral visit to Germany, Minister Albares set out the main policy lines that will guide Spain's action during its Presidency of the Council of the European Union, recalling that they form part of a work programme that will be presented publicly to the General Affairs Council to be held in June.

At a joint press conference with Annalena Baerbock, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Berlin, the head of Spanish diplomacy emphasised that "Germany is a key partner for Spain and a major driving force for the European Union", adding that "we have a very strong and consolidated bilateral relationship that is deployed in all areas, as was made clear last year with the State visit". The minister also stressed that the 25th Spanish-German Summit in October 2022, held in A Coruña, was "a very important milestone" in the relationship between the two countries, confirming that "six months later, we can see significant progress in all areas".

Furthermore, at the meeting between José Manuel Albares and Svenja Schulze, Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, they addressed the coordination between Spain and Germany in the field of cooperation for development in Africa, and especially in the Sahel.
