Minister welcomes the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security

Bankole Adeoye's visit to Spain provides a decisive boost towards identifying areas for mutual cooperation between our country and the African organisation.

The meeting with the Commissioner of the African Union comes after José Manuel Albares' visit to Addis Ababa in February. There, the minister announced to the Executive Council of the organisation an aid of 50 million euros to support its efforts towards peace, security as well as the inclusive and productive growth of the continent; and 20 million euros for the AUDA-NEPAD cooperation agency.

In his visit to Spain, Commissioner Adeoye noted an interest in matters related to the Sahel, Ethiopia, the Peace Fund, ATMIS Somalia, and maritime safety. He was also interested in supporting the efforts of the UN Secretary General's Personal Envoy for Western Sahara.
