José Manuel Albares travels to Slovenia

The minister underlined the excellet bilateral relations and the union between Spain and Slovenia within the EU to help Europe progress and face global challenges.

​Upon an invitation from his Slovenian counterpart, Tanja Fajon, the Minister for Foreign Affairs took part in the annual Conference of Ambassadors of Slovenia, where he reported on the priorities of the Spanish Presidency of the European Council as from 1 July. José Manuel Albares highlighted that Spain will exercise its European Presidency with the leadership that Europe requires at this crucial time and with the aim of protecting Europeans and maintaining unity among partners. He also indicated that Spain will promote improved relations between the European Union and Latin America, a region he defined as "the most 'Euro-compatible' on the planet". 

Subsequently, at a join press briefing, José Manuel Albares and Tanja Fajon both highlighted that EU support for Ukraine will be​ maintained until peace returns to Ukraine. "European unity is the best tool we have to tackle the challenge from Vladimir Putin", claimed the minister. For her part, the Slovenian minister underlined that "at a time of war on European soil, when tectonic shifts take place, we all need each other". 

During his stay in Ljubljana, Minister Albares was received by the President of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, and met with the Prime Minister, Robert Golob, and with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Urska Klakocar Zupancic.
