The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has sent a letter to all institutional stakeholders in the Campo de Gibraltar containing the official Spanish translation produced by the European Commission’s legal linguists of the historic agreement concerning Gibraltar.
The letter, sent as soon as the translation was received from Brussels, has been received by all institutional stakeholders in the area, including the President of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, the Association of Municipalities, the President of the Cross-Border Group, the President of the Campo de Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce, and the mayors of Algeciras, La Línea, Castellar de la Frontera, Tarifa, Jimena de la Frontera, Los Barrios, San Martín del Tesorillo and San Roque.
Furthermore, the text has also been sent to the chairs of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the Congress and the Senate, and to the spokespersons of all parliamentary groups in both Houses.
Commitment to transparency
In keeping with his commitment to maximum transparency and real-time communication of updates regarding the Agreement, the Minister has shared the text, which is now also available on the Ministry’s website and social media channels, alongside an infographic explaining the main changes it introduces.
With this letter and the publication of the final translation, Albares is giving full publicity to a historic Agreement that will bring security and prosperity to the entire region, the details of which he will present once again to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress.
