The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, with the support of the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), hosted the 16th Meeting of the Ibero-American Association of Diplomatic Academies, Institutes and Schools on 21 and 22 May as part of the preparatory work for the 30th Ibero-American Summit, to be held in Madrid on 4 and 5 November 2026.
Opened by the Ibero-American Secretary-General, Andrés Allamand, and the State Secretary for Ibero-America and the Caribbean and for Spanish around the World, Susana Sumelzo, the conference was attended by the directors, rectors and representatives of the Diplomatic Academies, Institutes and Schools of Ibero-America.
The second day, held today at the Diplomatic Academy, concluded with the adoption of a set of conclusions reflecting a commitment to promoting the exchange of information, training methods and publications; establishing a pilot programme on institutional strengthening and the professionalisation of the diplomatic service; and organising virtual seminars on training in cultural diplomacy and scientific diplomacy, with the support of the Ibero-American Network for Cultural Diplomacy (RIDCULT) and SEGIB, and to create a working group of interested countries to design a programme of courses and other training opportunities aimed at complementing the training of diplomats and civil servants.
