Albares meets with new US Ambassador to Spain

The Spanish minister stressed the importance of transatlantic ties in the year marking the 250th anniversary of US independence

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, met on Tuesday, 17 February, with the new US Ambassador to Spain, Benjamin León Jr., with whom he discussed the main issues on the bilateral agenda.

Albares welcomed the ambassador upon his arrival in Madrid, on the eve of the presentation of his credentials to His Majesty the King, a ceremony which the minister will also attend, and conveyed his wishes for success in his diplomatic mission.

Spain and the United States maintain strong bilateral relations that both countries hope to continue strengthening and deepening in the political, security, economic, cultural and scientific fields, among others.
