The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, presented the exhibition “Love Me as I Am: Ibero-America Through the Lens of Art” at Casa de América on Tuesday, 3 November. The exhibition is an initiative of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and Casa de América, organised as part of the Ibero-American Summit in Madrid.
Curated by Cuban artist René Francisco Rodríguez, the exhibition offers an exploration of the different perspectives, experiences and forms of artistic creation that coexist in Spain today. Painting, photography, installations and other forms of artistic expression will fill the exhibition galleries of Casa de América from 4 November 2026 to 16 January 2027, in a presentation built around diversity, encounters and connections between artists.
Following the presentation, a discussion was held on the role of culture as a space for encounters and dialogue between Ibero-American countries, with the participation of representatives from the arts, including Uruguayan singer-songwriter Jorge Abner Drexler Prada and Portuguese actress Sofia Alexandra Pereira Alves.
The exhibition forms part of the programme of events for the Ibero-American Summit in Madrid, which coincides with the 35th anniversary of the first Summit, held in Guadalajara (Mexico) in 1991.
