The reception will take place at midday at the ministerial headquarters in Plaza Marqués de Salamanca (Madrid) and forms part of the actions designed by the team working on the candidacy to raise its profile, internationally in this case. To demonstrate that, the presentation will also be attended by senior civil servants from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Central Government Representation Office and the City Council of Malaga.

The event will include a screening of the official video promoting the candidacy, as well as a promotional video about Spain. These two videos were already used to present the candidacy at the 170th assembly of the Bureau of International Expositions in Paris (BIE) in June.

These products will be served by firms from Malaga wishing to support the event.

The Urban Era: towards the sustainable city

‘The Urban Era: towards the sustainable city’, which would take be held from 5 June to 5 September 2027, is a proposal to reflect on one of the main challenges faced by contemporary society in the medium and long term: making demographic growth and urban development compatible with protecting the environment and adopting innovative solutions capable of guaranteeing a better quality of life for city residents.

It is based on and links together the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for 2030. Expo Malaga 2027 would enable an exchange of knowledge, experiences and highly diverse solutions aimed at transforming cities into pleasant places to live and coexist with others, and would foster best practices. This global conversation would also enable the exhibition of scientific, technological and economic progress on the issue.
