The touring exhibition will display reproductions of fifty masterpieces from the Spanish museum's collection in public open spaces in Brazil and Mexico, with the aim of taking art to the general public and strengthening Ibero-American cultural ties in this year of the Ibero-American Summit in Spain, to be held in Madrid in November.
The exhibition will offer the opportunity to view some of the most emblematic artworks from the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum free of charge, in open, accessible urban spaces.
Brasilia: the first stop for the exhibition
The first stop will be the esplanade alongside the National Museum of the Republic in Brasilia called Praça do Museu Nacional da República, one of the most iconic spaces in the Brazilian capital, where the “The Thyssen comes to you" exhibition will open on 17 June.

This initiative invites the public to explore the artworks in a dialogue with the modernist urban landscape of Brasilia, creating new spaces for interaction between art and the city.
In Brazil, the exhibition is being organized by AECID, the Embassy of Spain and the Instituto Cervantes, with the collaboration from Brazil of the Government of the Federal District's State Secretariats for Culture and the Creative Economy and for International Relations and the National Museum of the Republic.
Culture connecting societies
Brazil and Mexico have been selected as locations for the exhibitions in recognition of the rich diversity of Ibero-America and to highlight the role of cultural cooperation as a catalyst for understanding, exchanges and engagement between the two sides of the Atlantic.
