His Majesty the King will visit Ottawa and Toronto on 19, 20 and 21 May. He will be accompanied by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Economy, Trade and Enterprise, Carlos Cuerpo
The visit will begin in Ottawa, where His Majesty will hold a meeting with the Governor General of Canada, Mary Simon, and attend an official dinner in her honour. In Toronto, he will take part in the Spain-Canada Business Day and a meeting with senior business executives and investors from both countries. The King will also receive the Spanish community at Victoria College and present the Joan Margarit International Poetry Prize to the writer Margaret Atwood at the University of Toronto. His Majesty will conclude the trip with a visit to Lakefield College.
This visit takes place against a backdrop of intensified high-level contacts between Spain and Canada and a renewed impetus for bilateral ties, and reflects Spain’s desire to continue strengthening its relationship with a key partner and a particularly close ally.
