His Majesty the King will travel to Chile for the presidential handover ceremony to the President-elect of the Republic of Chile, José Antonio Kast Rist, which will take place next Wednesday, 11 March. He will be accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares.
Felipe VI will also travel to Portugal for the inauguration of the President-elect of the Portuguese Republic, António José Seguro, as well as to Bolivia, where he will meet with President Rodrigo Paz. He was unable to attend the inauguration in November 2025, which was attended by the Speaker of Congress, Francina Armengol, accompanied by State Secretary Susana Sumelzo.
By participating in these events, the Government of Spain reinforces the extraordinary ties that bind the peoples on both sides of the Atlantic, while also conveying its commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations between countries that share the common space of the Ibero-American Community of Nations. These three visits take place in the same year Madrid hosts the Ibero-American Summit.
