President of Colombia sworn into office

His Majesty the King will travel to Bogotá on 7 August to attend the events on the occasion of the transfer of the presidential power to the President-elect of Colombia, Gustavo Petro.

During his time in Colombia, His Majesty the King, in addition to attending the ceremony for the transfer of presidential power, will hold meetings with the outgoing and incoming Presidents of Colombia, and with the Spanish community there.

His Majesty the King will be accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares Bueno.

The attendance of His Majesty the King and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation at the ceremony to swear in President Petro reaffirms Spain’s interest in continuing to strengthen the ties of friendship that unite the two nations, accompanied by shared values that benefit the citizens of both our countries.
