Parliamentary elections in Lebanon

Spain wishes to congratulate the people of Lebanon and its authorities on the parliamentary elections held on Sunday, 15 May, which took place according to the scheduled deadlines.

Spain thanks the work of the EU’s electoral observation mission, which our country participated in, and hopes that this work can contribute to help correct the irregularities detected in future election processes. Aside from this, the elections were held in a climate of calm and safety in general, thanks to the helpful conduct of the Lebanese security forces.

Spain trusts that the results of these elections will lead to the speedy formation of a new government in Lebanon, which must undertake the major reforms that the country needs, which is going through very difficult circumstances. Spain will continue to support Lebanon and its people as it has to date.
