HECTOR GÓMEZ HERNÁNDEZ

Born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on 16 November 1978.

Degree in Labour Sciences, Graduate in Law and degree in Tourism Management.

He developed his professional career both in the private and public sector.

Served as Council Member in the Guía de Isora (Tenerife) City Council and as Member of the Regional Legislature of the Autonomous Region of the Canary Islands.

During 2018-2019, served as Director General of Turespaña, a government agency responsible for the promotion of Spain as a tourist destination and was elected Member of the Regional Legislature for Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the 2019 general election.

Since then, he has served as Spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs Commission, as well as Head of the Spanish delegation to the Conference on the Future of Europe since its inception and Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

In 2021, he was appointed Spokesman of the Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Congress of Deputies and subsequently, President of the Constitutional Commission.

He was a member of the Executive Committee of the PSOE Party, serving as Secretary for International Relations, and subsequently, as an ex officio member due to his position as Spokesman of the Socialist Parliamentary Group.

In March 2023, he was appointed Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism.

In July 2023, he was again elected Member of the Spanish Parliament for Santa Cruz de Tenerife as a result of being head of the list of candidates for that constituency, a position he will hold until his appointment as Ambassador Permanent Representative of Spain to the United Nations in December 2023.
