Visa in case of lost or theft of residence permit card

This visa is applied for when a foreign national who is a legal resident in Spain and does not possess a residence card due to the loss or theft of the same. The entry visa that is issued permits the foreign national who is legal resident to return to Spain.

Required documents

  1. Application form. Duly filled out, signed in blue ink by the applicant and one recent passport size coloured photograph with a white background pasted on the form. 
  2. Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months and photocopy of all pages of the passport.
  3. Photocopy of the page or pages of the passport that contain biometric data, previous visas from different countries and migration stamps.​
  4. Documents that justify the status of the legal residency of the foreign national in Spain (Copy of residence permit card, Authorisation to return certificate, etc.) 
  5. Documents that justify the time period that the applicant has been out of Spain. 
  6. Police complaint report before the police authorities notifying the loss or theft of the Residence Permit Card. 
  7. A letter explaining the entire situation, duly signed by the applicant.

 Procedure

  • The visa application must be submitted at the Consular Section in New Delhi with prior appointment through emb.nuevadelhi.vis@maec.es​.
  • This visa application requires a prior enquiry to the central authorities in Spain. The processing time could take up to few days/weeks.
