Alkinoos Ioannidis: COMPARTIR

27 de noviembre de 2023

Spain’s Presidency of the EU Council in Cyprus comes to a fabulous conclusion with a concert of the prestigious Cypriot singer-songwriter Alkinoos Ioannidis, supported by the Amalgamation Choir and acclaimed Cypriot musicians Marios Takkoushis, Lefteris Moumtzis and Yiannis Koutis. The project is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Cyprus.

Alkinoos Ioannidis was born in Nicosia, Cyprus. He studied classical guitar at the European Conservatory and in 1989 moved to Athens, Greece. He spent the next three years studying theatre at the National Theatre Drama School and philosophy at Athens University. During his career, he has released several personal records and live recordings, while he has participated in dozens of records of his colleagues, as a creator or performer. He has toured the world many times, giving over 2.000 concerts. His influences range from traditional Cypriot music, Greek composers of the last decades, Byzantine, Classical and Rock. In addition to songs, he has written music for large orchestral and choral ensembles, as well as music for theatre, documentary and dance.

For this concert, Alkinoos has honed his Spanish skills, bridging the two edges of the Mediterranean Sea and will offer a performance that will merge Spanish and Cypriot cultures. In the context of the celebration of 55 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Spain and Cyprus, the event marks an unprecedented intergovernmental collaboration in the arts, and is intended to also form the nucleus of a new, future collaboration, travelling Cypriot culture to the Spanish-speaking world, a project that we are excited to begin developing in the near future.
The concert will form part of the Nicosia International Festival Program, and will take place on the 07 December, 2023, at 20.30, at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre.
