La Academia de Cine ha elegido Alcarràs, de Carla Simón, como representante española en la 95 edición de los Premios Oscar. Ganadora del Oso de Oro en el Festival de Berlín, Alcarràs es el segundo largometraje de Carla Simón, que con su debut Verano 1993 se hizo con el Goya a la mejor dirección Novel. Es la segunda vez que una película de Simón representa a nuestro país en Hollywood, ya que Verano 1993 y lo hizo en los Oscar de 2018.
En Alcarràs, la realizadora vuelve a fijarse en su universo personal para narrar la historia de la familia Solé, que después de ochenta años cultivando la misma tierra se reúne para realizar juntos su última cosecha. Interpretada por actores no profesionales de la zona de Lleida y trabajadores de la tierra, la cinta también está preseleccionada para los European Film Awards, los premios de la Academia del Cine Europeo.
La preselección de 15 aspirantes al Oscar a mejor película internacional se anunciará el 21 de diciembre. Las candidaturas se anunciarán el próximo 24 de enero y la ceremonia de la 95ª edición de los premios Oscar se celebrará en el teatro Dolby de Los Ángeles el 12 de marzo.
The Spanish Film Academy has chosen Alcarràs, by Carla Simón, as the Spanish film to represent Spain at the 95th Oscar Awards. Winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival, Alcarràs is the second feature film by Carla Simón, who won the Goya for Best New Director with her debut Verano 1993. It is the second time that a film by Simón represents our country in Hollywood, since Verano 1993 and did so at the 2018 Oscars.
In Alcarràs, the director returns to look at her personal universe to tell the story of the Solé family, who after eighty years farming the same land reunite to make their last harvest together. Starring non-professional actors from the Lleida area and workers of the land, the film is also shortlisted for the European Film Awards, the European Film Academy Awards.
The shortlist of 15 contenders for the Oscar for Best International Film will be announced on December 21. The nominations will be announced on January 24 and the 95th Oscar ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12.
