Ambassador Aparici and Louise Kingham discussed the British and European energy landscape and opportunities for bilateral cooperation in renewables, especially green hydrogen, biofuels, transport electrification, and carbon capture.
The Spanish head of mission emphasized the strategic importance of energy in the Spanish-British connection, particularly after the adoption of the Bilateral Strategic Framework, which strengthens collaboration on economic growth, sustainability, and the green transition. Spanish renewable energy companies have a growing presence in the British and European markets, contributing to industrial decarbonisation.
The Ambassador explained Spain's interest in strengthening energy cooperation with the United Kingdom, so that we can advance together in technological innovation and decarbonisation. She also encouraged BP to maintain its commitment to investing in the Castellón refinery (joint-venture with Iberdrola- Spain), to produce green hydrogen.
