Ambassador Aparici congratulated the DIAMONDS team, particularly Imperial College, highlighting the growing scientific cooperation between Spain and the United Kingdom following the UK re-joining the EU's Horizon programme.
Peter Haynes, Vice President of Imperial College; Mike Levin and Federico Martinón Torres, researchers in the project's paediatric area; and Marta Achanco, leader of the DIAMONDS management team at Imperial College, explained the project, whose objective is to develop a new diagnostic test for the rapid detection of bacterial infectious diseases, as well as viral and inflammatory illnesses.
DIAMONDS (Diagnosis and treatment of febrile illnesses using RNA-based personalized molecular signatures) is a collaborative research programme. The project involves researchers and scientists from 28 institutions and 13 countries, 11 of which are European. It is funded €22.5 million from the EU Horizon 2020 programme.
