The Ambassador met with Dr. Andrew Roe, the institution's Rector, and Professor Jonathan Thacker, a researcher

Yesterday

Ambassador Aparici discussed the institution with the academics, focusing particularly on the Chair, Alfonso XIII, currently held by Jonathan Thacker.

Established following a visit to Oxford by the Spanish monarch, this chair was first held in 1927 by the diplomat and writer Salvador de Madariaga, who had strong ties to the United Kingdom.

The Ambassador and the two representatives from Exeter College agreed to stay in touch to explore avenues for collaboration ahead of the Alfonso XIII Chair's centenary, which will be celebrated next year. They also discussed the institution's future activities, such as the commemoration of the centenary of the Generation of '27.
