The Ambassador meets with the chairman of the House of Lords Committee for the European Union, Lord Kinnoull.

The Northern Ireland Protocol and the upcoming Spanish Presidency of the EU were the focus of the meeting.

In relation to the Northern Ireland Protocol, the Ambassador and Lord Kinnoull expressed their hopes for an early agreement between the EU and the United Kingdom, specially since the latest developemnts, which would ease the relationship between both parties.

The Ambassador spoke about the Spanish Presidency of the European Union during the second half of 2023, of which one of its priorities will be foreign and security policy. He recalled that Spain will host the summit of the European Political Community, as well as a Summit with Latin America and the Caribbean, and another with the “southern neighborhood”.
