It is a great honour for me, as Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republics of Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi, to greet you and welcome you to the web page of the Embassy of Spain in Harare.
Spain opened its embassy in Harare in 1981, right after independence. Spain and Zimbabwe enjoy therefore long-standing, friendly relations, founded on mutual respect, trust and a shared willingness to strengthen our bilateral cooperation.
In fulfilment of the Spanish Strategy for Africa, our collaboration with these three countries, apart from political, enhancing official exchanges and high-level and technical visits, is mainly two-fold.
The same as our hosting country, Spain also pursues an increase in bilateral trade and foreign direct investments, particularly in the fields of tourism, agriculture, renewable energies, and infrastructures.
Secondly, our cultural and scientific cooperation has earned the favour of Zimbabwean audiences throughout the years. By teaching our language, spoken by 600 million people around the world, and by showing our art forms, we aim at getting better acquainted with our respective cultures, and at bringing our peoples closer together.
During my second tour of duty in this great country, I, with the invaluable help of my team, take on with enthusiasm, commitment and conviction, the mission to strengthen our bonds and to unlock the untapped potential in some areas of bilateral cooperation.
