History
Spain and Tanzania established diplomatic relations in 1967, shortly after Tanzania's independence.
Since then, the Embassy of Spain in Dar es Salaam has worked to strengthen the political and economic ties between the two countries.
The current Embassy building is located in the Oyster Bay area of Dar es Salaam.
In addition to Tanzania, the Embassy of Spain in Dar es Salaam is also accredited to Burundi and Rwanda.
Embassy functions
- To promote and strengthen bilateral relations between Spain and Tanzania in political, economic, cultural, and consular fields.
- To protect the interests and rights of Spanish citizens residing or travelling in Tanzania.
- To foster cooperation and understanding between Spain and Tanzania, as well as with the East African Community.
- To provide information and support to Spanish companies and institutions interested in operating in the region, through the Economic and Commercial Office.
- To collaborate with local and international partners in areas such as development cooperation, gender equality, education, and sustainable growth.
