WHO CAN APPLY:
- In order to apply for a visa at the BLS Spain Visa Application Center in Washington DC or at the Consular Section of the Embassy of Spain in Washington DC the applicant must be a legal resident in our consular jurisdiction: Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina.
- In order to apply for a study visa at the BLS Spain Visa Application Center in Washington DC the applicant must be a legal resident in our consular jurisdiction or be enrolled in in-person studies at a center within our consular jurisdiction: Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina.
Please note that the applicant must submit the visa application according to the consular jurisdiction. We cannot accept applications from outside of our consular jurisdiction.
Consular jurisdictions
Please note that the Consular Section in Washington DC has no jurisdiction in the consular jurisdictions of other Spanish Consulates in the US. Therefore, the visa applications submitted in other Consulates in the US are processed in other Consulates in the US, not in Washington DC. The visa process involves consultation with other authorities in Spain, not in the US. All the Spanish Consular Offices depend on our central services in Spain, not in the US.
NON-US CITIZENS:
Non-U.S. citizens who are legal residents in the US and who are holders of a valid Green Card or a valid U.S. long term Visa can apply for a Spanish or Schengen visa in the US according to the above explained consular jurisdiction rules.
B1/B2 visa holders and citizens without a valid immigration status or a valid student or work visas in the US do not qualify to apply for a Spanish (national) or Schengen visa in the US. The Consular Section does not admit a pending asylum application as proof of legal residence in order to apply for a visa.
Non-U.S. citizens without a valid immigration status or a valid student or work visas in the US must apply for a Spanish or Schengen visa in their country of legal residence or in their country of origin.
