Specific procedure for Student visas for Au-Pairs

GENERAL INFORMATION

An applicant will be considered an “au pair" when there is a collaborative, and not a working, relationship with the family characterized by the following:

  • The au pair will have the same address of the family with whom she/he will live;
  • ​Services or housework is only complimentary to the main purpose;
  • The au pair will not receive a salary for services;
  • The applicant must be between 17 and 30 years of age.


REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

In addition to the required documentation for general student visas, the au-pair must add the following documentation: 

- In order to improve the legal security of the contract, it is advisable (not mandatory) that the host family sign the au pair contract before a Notary in Spain (“legitimación de firma"). The Au Pair will sign the contract later (not before the notary).
- The contract must be at least in Spanish.
- The contract should contain at least the following information:
- The name of the parties
- Duration of the placement agreement, with a maximum of one year;
- Participation in services or chores, no more than 5 hours a day;
- Provision of one full day off per week. 
- The address which the placed "au pair" will share with the host family, and enjoy a certain degree of independence;
 -Commitment of the host family to allow the person sufficient time to attend (language) courses and to improve their cultural and professional knowledge;
- The pocket money concept (amount that the au pair will receive monthly);
- ​The agreement must allow both parties to terminate the contract by giving a two weeks notice.
