In “MASPALOMAS", a 76-year-old gay is enjoying his late years in the sun-soaked Spanish resort town of Maspalomas. After suffering a stroke, however, his life takes a dramatic turn when he is moved into a conservative nursing home. Despite having been out for many years, he suddenly finds himself pressured to hide his sexuality once again.
Directed with tenderness, wit and deep humanity by Basque duo José Mari Goenaga and Aitor Arregi, this acclaimed drama, winner of the Sebastiane Award the San Sebastián International Film Festival, balances warmth and humour with a poignant critique of the challenges and isolation faced by many LGBTQ+ seniors. Lead actor José Ramón Soroiz delivers a masterclass performance that earned him the Silver Shell for Best Leading Performance at the San Sebastián International Film Festival and the Goya Award for Best Actor.

The Hong Kong Lesbian & Gay Film Festival returns for its 37th edition from 4-20 September, presenting its most expansive programme in recent years. This year's line-up features 37 acclaimed feature films from around the world, including the festival's Opening Films, Closing Films, Centrepieces, Special Presentations, and a Retrospective Tribute, alongside 38 local and international short films.
Moving beyond traditional categories, the festival invites audiences to discover films through six moods - LOVE, LAUGH, REFLECT, THRILL, PRIDE, and REMEMBER, encouraging viewers to choose films based on how they feel, while exploring the richness of LGBTQ+ stories across communities and genres.
