Spain, 1939. Just two weeks after the end of the Spanish Civil War, General Franco orders a celebratory dinner at the luxurious Hotel Palace in Madrid. A young lieutenant, a meticulous head waiter, and a group of Republican prisoners – men from the opposing side of Franco's regime but gifted in the kitchen – are forced to deliver a banquet in record time. Everything seems to be running smoothly, however, the cooks are planning not only the feast, but also their own escape.

The European Union Film Festival is back!
Broadway Cinematheque has once again partnered with the European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macau to showcase a curated selection of exceptional European films for the Hong Kong audience.
This year, we proudly present 15 films, tackling universal themes like mental health, social trauma, and elderly care through extraordinary stories from Europe! Tickets will go on sale on 30 Mar (Mon) at 3 PM. Don't miss it!
The Festival opens with a swedish comedy, The Dance Club, An eccentric psychology student teams up with four patients to form an unconventional dance club to help them fight the causes of their struggles and ends up falling madly in love along the way. Ambassador Harvey Rouse, Head of the European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macao, notes: “This heartwarming film addresses the serious topic of mental health in a light-hearted way, which I am sure will resonate with Hongkongers just as it did with audiences in Europe".
Ambassador Rouse adds: “As 2026 marks the fourth year since Russia launched its illegal full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the EUFF presents the striking Ukrainian film U Are the Universe to highlight the European Union's unwavering support for Ukraine". This rare Ukrainian science-fiction film by young director Pavlo Ostrikov is a love story set in a post-apocalyptic universe, powerfully addressing the yearning for human connection amidst loneliness and desolation.
