    ​Spain expresses its regret at the devastating consequences of Typhoon Sarika, which has affected, to date, parts of the Philippines, Vietnam and China, and passes on its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims and wishes all those affected a full recovery and a speedy return to normality.

    ​Spain welcomes with satisfaction the announcement by the United Nations of the re-establishment of a cessation of hostilities in Yemen, which will come into force at midnight on Wednesday, 19 October, for an initial period of 72 hours, which may then be extended. Spain trusts that all the parties to the conflict will uphold their commitment to respect this measure in the terms and conditions agreed on 10 April.

    ​It was with great regret that Spain received the news of the capsized ferry accident in River Chindwin, close to the city of Mandalay in the centre of Burma, in which dozens of people lost their lives and many others are missing.

    ​The Government of Spain rejects Saturday’s uprising in Tripoli in which rebels used force and claimed authority outside of the reconciliation pact represented by the Libyan Political Agreement signed in Skhirat in December 2015, which was endorsed by the UN Security Council in Resolution 2259.

    ​The Government of Spain is pleased that some of the girls kidnapped in Chibok more than two years ago were released on Thursday, 13 October and wishes them a speedy recovery from the tremendous suffering during their time in captivity.
