Elections in Colombia

The government welcomes the start of this new era in which it hopes to work closely with the new Colombian Government in creating social, fair and sustainable policies, along with peacebuilding and respect and protection for the environment.

Spain and Colombia are united by close fraternal ties and by a strategic association within the framework of the Ibero-American Community of Nations. Accordingly, the government expresses its wish to continue extending, together with the new Colombian authorities, the existing sound bilateral relations and a fruitful collaboration at an Ibero-American and multilateral level to the benefit of our societies and the Ibero-American Community of Nations.

The government extends its congratulations to the people and institutions of Colombia for their civic spirit during the course of the electoral process – proof of the commitment of the men and women of Colombia to democracy and to the future of their country.
