The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation has sent a Spanish Consul to Dover to provide assistance to Spanish hauliers and citizens affected by the blockage at the English Channel following the obligatory COVID-19 tests due to the restrictions imposed by France and the United Kingdom.
The Consul will attend the two key points where the COVID-19 tests are being carried out to assist Spanish hauliers and citizens with the necessary procedures related to the test, while providing support to those in need of accommodation.
In addition, the Spanish Embassy in the United Kingdom has provided relevant information in Spanish and on social media, on the necessary protocols for PCR tests for drivers of heavy vehicles that use Port of Dover or Eurotunnel.
Through this communication, the Embassy informs that these drivers must have a COVID-19 test before leaving the United Kingdom to enter France. They advise drivers of heavy vehicles not to travel to Kent until further news; furthermore, it provides a list of practical information aimed at all those finding themselves restricted by this blockage in the affected area.
