15 Spanish citizens who were in prison and/or in a situation of extreme need in Colombia were repatriated to Spain in the early hours of this morning. The flight was organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation and FRONTEX.
Of the 15 Spanish citizens repatriated, 13 were in a situation of extreme humanitarian need and two of them were repatriated to serve the rest of their sentence in Spain. 17 people were initially going to be on the flight but two of them were unable to fly at the last minute following a positive COVID-19 result in the PCR test they were administered.
The Consul General of Spain in Bogota and the Home Affairs Ministry of Spain in Colombia coordinated the repatriation mission on the ground.
