PRESS RELEASE 158
Meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad
27/11/2019

The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, Josep Borrell, received today his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.

Both Ministers highlighted the excellence and intensity of the bilateral relations, demonstrated by the success of the State Visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen to Rabat last February.

The relations between Spain and Morocco described as strategic and global, finds its maximum expression in High-Level Meetings (HLM), the next edition of which should be held in Morocco. In addition to an intense political dialogue, the bilateral relationship includes an exemplary cooperation related to security and migration. The educational and cultural action is other important part of this relationship. Furthermore, Spain has become Morocco's first trade partner over the last years.

The meeting also allowed them to discuss the relations between the EU and Morocco and welcomed the entry into force of the agreements on agriculture and fisheries.

The analysis of the regional situation, including the situation in Western Sahara, was also included on the agenda.
