The Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, Josep Borrell, held a meeting today in Nicosia with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Nikolaos Christodoulides, where both ministers reviewed issues of common interest within the bilateral relationship.
Minister Borrell highlighted the excellent relationship between both countries and underlined Spain's support for Cyprus in relation to the search for a solution to the Cyprus question, and the intention to revitalize those negotiations.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation also thanked Cyprus for its continued support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Spain and its constitutional legal framework.
Both ministers addressed economic topics such as the possibility of Spanish companies increasing their presence in the exploitation of hydrocarbons, renewable energies and infrastructures and in other sectors.
With regard to educational and cultural matters, the ministers addressed the promotion of the Spanish language in Cyprus.
